Vintage inspired 1940’s -19.50’s are reminiscent of days when women starred to really think about fashion and clothing. Vintage clothing is becoming very popular and it’s even made its way into mainstream fashion, red carpets and catwalks, as interest in adding vintage inspired clothing pin ups has soared in recent years.
So when my talented friend Laura Pearman of Pearman Photography #BloggersPearJoy asked me to be part of the vintage day shoot she was planning and style the girls Kathryn (Nick name Reg by me) Rachel, Alice and Laura B, I grabbed this amazing opportunity with both hands.
Before shoot day we arranged to meet up and talked over culinary delights, wine and lots of laughter at one of my favourite restaurants in Newcastle Carluccios, there I met all the girls and Emily from @ the amazing make-up artist, whose makeup would be part of the vintage transformation. It was agreed that a day and night outfit would be the course of action for the shoot day, we were all excited.
The shoot day seemed to arrive so quickly, it was 11 am at the@ HOULTS YARD, Liam who was the master hair dresser, took the girls look to a whole new 1940’s hair menu from victory rolls, land girl locks and quiffs. Emily gave them a vintage inspired make-up look with red lips and black eyeliner, they all looked amazing, then the final part was the vintage outfits supplied by our local vintage store in South Shields, It’s Vintage Darling @ Rachel, Alice and Laura Bloom were going to be part of fashion vintage history.
Kathryn@ who I nick named Reg was my right hand man helping behind the scenes, as well as being one of the models. She supplied her own outfits, based on what we discussed, which was perfect as she was a walking vintage homage. This is Kathryn’s Rizzo inspired look from Grease, all I can say, eat your heart out Rizzo.
Rachel @ wore a French Salon two piece red suit originally from Fenwick back in the day. We added a fur collar and red broach to really make a statement, her victory roll hair do really did show case her vintage inspired look. She even said she felt like a rich bitch in this outfit, which made me laugh.
Laura Bloom @ wore a land girls inspire look with tank top and trousers, but I loved her in this dress, as I wanted to show case her amazing body art, she even matched the vintage green Buick supplied by Ann-Marie the driver. I felt like I was on a scene from Happy Days, for those of you that can remember.
Alice@ had amazing red hair it was a beautiful contrast with the green and red colours in the day outfit, she looked like a Librarian. I think the look say’s it all.
Ann- Marie who supplied the amazing vintage Buick @ was also behind the driving seat, she looked fabulous in this vintage blue fitted coat, with a white shirt, tie, mink hat and driving gloves. It’s Vintage Darling shop loved this look.
And not forgetting the Lady behind it all Miss Laura Pearman @ with her sassy red gloves and shoes, teamed with a vintage tea dress and silk head scarf. I love this photo it a true essence of how much fun we were all having on the day, behind and in front of the camera. We also had the very talented James from @ who was videoing the day, more on that video soon.
These are some of my favourite pictures that were captured on the day including me and some twirling dresses.
