Wardrobe styling for a business photo shoot….
The role of a stylist on any shoot is often part of a larger creative team of collaborations from photographer, hair and make artist, it’s all about putting a look together for the concept & brief that has been create for the client. I’ve worked on quite a few photos shoots over the years with Laura Pearman photography and her clients, I love every minute of creating a wardrobe that really hits the clients brief really challenges my styling creative juices.
I had the pleasure of being asked to style the lovely owner of Claire Jenks Design she’s a graphic designer and creative artworker based in the North East of England, it was important to make sure her wardrobe matched her brand identity as well as her style personality. One of the first things for any stylist is to take the time to get to know their client, it’s so important it’s all part of the decision making when it comes to what they are wearing on the day of the photo shoot.
When it came time for our appointment at her home to go through her wardrobe and try some clothing options on, we were so excited. One of the things I always do as an experienced stylist is take my little bag of a tricks from clothing to jewellery, which always come in handy. Claire was looking for a chic stylish feminine look, that wasn’t’ corporate or stuffy, but we still needed to convey visually who she was. We carefully worked through the entire rail of clothing and lots of dresses, and biscuits, we got down to the final selection of looks for her to wear on the photo shoot day.
On the shoot day for Claire the location was the beach, yeah you heard right, what better way to spend your day styling on a photo shoot at the beach, we even had a little beach hut to get her dressed, with make-up, hair touch ups by the lovely Marie from ND Makeup Artist, Armed with what seemed like Claire’s entire wardrobe, but it wasn’t, I started to create the outfit options that where decided prior to the day with a few extra options just in case Laura the photographer was looking for any other creative looks.
